Mental Health & Diabetes
South Tees CCG established a Diabetes Club towards the end of 2018 for Practice Nurses, GPs and other primary healthcare professionals who have an interest in diabetes medicine. The evenings are free to attend and include refreshments.
Date: Wednesday 20th November 2019
Venue: Holiday Inn Express, Middlesbrough – Centre Square (free parking in Cleveland Centre)
Registration, buffet and view exhibition stands 18.30 – 19.00, meeting to commence at 19.00, aim to finish by 20.30.
Mental Health & Diabetes, delivered by Dr Suhel Ashraff, Consultant Physician, Diabetologist and Endocrinologist, James Cook University Hospital
- Understand the close relationship between the diagnosis of diabetes and poor mental health.
- Be aware of risk of sorrow, burnout or depression.
- Understand the effect of poor mental health on diabetes self-care.
- Be able to signpost people with poor mental health to appropriate support.
